Dengue is an arboviral disease that has rapidly spread throughout the tropics of the world. Dengue virus is transmitted by female mosquitoes mainly of the species Aedes aegypti and, to a lesser extent, Ae. albopictus. Dengue is caused by a virus of the Flaviviridae family and there are four distinct, but closely related, serotypes of the virus that cause dengue (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4).
Q-Line Rapid Dengue Combo test kit is intended for detecting both; the antigen and differential IgM/IgG antibodies to dengue virus in human serum or plasma. NS1 antigen is generally found up to day 9 onset of fever. The detection of NS1 is inhibited when anti-NS1 antibodies are produced. IgM become detectable by day 3 to day 5 after onset of illness in primary dengue and by day 1 to day 2 after onset of illness in secondary infections. Thus the combo device has been made to diagnose the different phase of the current infection.
